File Sytem for booting kernel through SD-CARD.

Hi Everyone !

I am using Kernel Source 2.6.32 for compilation , i am getting this error at the end of booting...kernel image starts booting and end with this ..
I know this issue is with file system.. but i have created an EXT3 Partition and copied the file system source code to ext3..
Any views please suggest... 
1.Just copying the file system source code is sufficient ?
2.Do i need to mount the filesystem ?
3.how to mount a file system ?
4.what can be the maximum and minimum size of filesytem?



VFS: Cannot open root device "ubi0:rootfs" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
b300         1931264 mmcblk0 driver: mmcblk
  b301           72261 mmcblk0p1
  b302          915705 mmcblk0p2
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
