TDA4VM: Yocto/Arago How to generate SDK/linux-devkit with yocto?

Hi,

I would like to know, how to (re)generate the linux-devkit (or SDK in yocto terms) after the linux image has been changed.

I need to do this, for example after adding boost library, qt-framework, changing compiler version, etc... for developing efficiently linux userspace application.

Normally, you do this by bitbake <image-name> -c do_populate_sdk or -c do_populate_sdk_ext.

However I run into a lot of trouble by trying doing this.

So I am hoping for any help or suggestions, since the linux-devkit within the PSDKL had to be generated in some way.

I'm currently using the PDSKL 08_02 release configuration.

Hi AnBer,

thank you for these links. Yes I've checked them already, also the "Customizing a Yocto-based Linux distribution for production".

I followed the suggestion and setup a custom layer which defines a new image configuration, specifies a specific linux kernel + devicetree configuration and a couple of custom packages. This builds successfully a bootable linux image, like "tisdk-default-image" does.

I also know, that "arago-core-psdkla-bundle" creates the "full SDK" ( u-boot, kernel, linux-image, and the SDK) and "tisdk-default-image" just u-boot, kernel and the linux image.

But it is nowhere documented how the SDK is build, based on arago (I assume here, arago-core-psdkla-bundle and tisdk-default-image inherit/based on arago). Of course I cannot use arago-core-psdkla-bundle to build the SDK for my own image.

The normal "yocto" way would be to just call <image-name> -c do_populate_sdk. But this results in errors and I must assume its not supported or intended to build an SDK based on arago this way.

Information at http://arago-project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page are rare and many years old.

I tried to reverse engineer the arago recipes, especially the arago-core-psdkla-bundle. But it is too complex without the knowledge of how arago works or is designed.

Any support or links to documentation about arago is highly appriciated.

Can I assume, the issue is resolved?

FYI, Ti-SDK Arago itself is built using a yocto-recipe arago-core-psdkla-bundle.bb. I am attaching the link to the recipe.
