66AK2G12: POR doesn't work

Part Number: 66AK2G12

Hi,

Does the POR not work if all the reserved pins are left disconnected?
Even if all other reset signals are set to 1, and PORn is changed from 0 to 1, the signal of the RESETSTATn pin continues to be 0. Unable to exit the Reset state.
Is the POR related to the reserved pin connection of the datasheet 84 page?

  • The pins listed on page 84 describe unused and reserved pins.  In table 4-29, if any of the pins are unused, they should be tied as described in the table.  The note on the page describes reserved pins which should be left unconnected (ie, no trace on the ball) and in the case of L2, it should be pulled to ground.

Any difference on your board from these requirements may result in unpredictable behavior, including, but not limited to, your observations.

However, your observations may be completely unrelated to the reserved pins.  It could be a power or board related issue, especially if this is a new board during bringup.   The POR has specific timing requirements itself to reset the device.  Please check section 5.9.1.1 and 5.9.2.1 of the datasheet

    Regards,

    James

  • I'll check section 5.9.1.1 and 5.9.2.1. Thank you.

  • I think I found the reason why POR does not working.

The pin L2 must be connected to VSS. The POR does not working when the L2 floated at the EVM.
