Help on TLV320AIC23b

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC23B

Hi,

I am using DSK5510 having TLV320AIC23b. I need to know that is there any way to configure its ADCs and DACs in DC coupling mode? Are all DACs AC coupled?

  • As I indicated in your other thread, the TLV320AIC23B on the DSK5510 is AC coupled.

This is due to the capacitors on the board which are found in the schematics in the DSK5510 Technical Reference Manual.  Specifically, capacitors C23, C24, C37 and C38 on sheet 15 in coordinates D2 and C2.

  • Hi Brandon,

Thanks for your both replies. I understand that DSK5510 DAC is AC coupled. But is this the case with all DSP boards? I have an application for which I need to output DC also. How can I work around with it?

    Thanks.

I have not performed an inspection of all available boards to know if they have the same structure.  In general, I would say if they support a line out output, they are likely AC coupled.

    EDIT : "added not above"

The EVMs generally don't have a connector to get access to codec side of the DC blocking capacitors, but you could attempt to attach fly wires to the codec side of the capacitors, or remove them completely and attach to the appropriate pad.

But you will need to ensure proper grounding and associated signal levels.
