Help with bootloading code from Flash Memory on TMS320C5509A

Hi,

I am using a custom hardware with DSP C5509A, where I have a 4 Mb Flash Memory connected to External CE1 Space. Also i am using FlashBurn v2 . x Utility with CCS 3.1 to burn my code to Flash memory. I am able to Read and burn my Code to Flash also and the BOOTM[3:0] are also set for Parallel 16 boot from external asynchronous memory. I converted my ".out" (COFF file) to Hex using the Hex55.exe utility provided with CCS.

I would like to know how to use hex55 Utility correctly and any steps to be followed to boot my hardware from Flash on Power ON.

Varun,
It's not clear what problem you are experiencing. Could you provide more details?

In the mean time you can get more information on the bootloader for the C5509A from the App Note: Using the C5509A Bootloader which is available here: http://www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/spra375. Information on the hex55 utility can be found in the Assembly Language Tools User Guide which si available here: http://www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/spru280.

Hi,

Thanks for the pointers to the documents. I realised that i had not used the Hex Convertion Utility correctly and hence by following some of the steps mentioned I was able to program the External Flash memory with the proper code and boot the device from it.
