TMS320VC5501 eval board recommendation

I'm looking for a recommendation for a basic C5501 eval board (think blinky). If not the C5501 something very similar in the same family. The goal is to become familiar with the basic tools and environment before tackling an existing project and modifying the code running on a C5501 / FPGA combination.

I already have CS 3.3 Platinum and the XDS560 / PCI emulator plus the related Xilinx and Simulink tools.

Take a look at Spectrum Digital's web site for Evaluation Modules (http://www.spectrumdigital.com/index_orig.php?cPath=37&osCsid=7208a3dc1ca7e04fcd77a5bd200d35d1). They have a C5502 EVM that you could use. The C5502 is a superset of C5501.

That looks interesting, I will look into it further. I just found TMS320VC5510 DSP Starter Kit (DSK) on the Ti site for $395 including CCS specific to the C55xx. I will stay with CCS 3.3-All but it may come with some C55xx specific files. I will need to compare the C5510 with the C5502/1 to see if it is relevent.

Take a look at the TI document "Migrating from TMS320VC5510 to TMSVC5502 (VC5501). It is available at www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/SPRA898. This will give you some insight into the differences between the C5510 and C5501/2 devices.

The document was a great find, thanks again. Clearly there have been improvements and the VC5502 is the better device. For my purposes I will go with the VC5510 eval board and save the $600. Especially since I now have an outline of the difference between the two.
