AM625: AM62x Processor Gigabit LAN

Part Number: AM625

Hi Experts,

I have a question about AM62x processors.

I have seen that they have two ethernet PHY and the EVM kit has two rj45 connectors. but in the datasheet, It seems that both rj45 are connected to an internal Ethernet switch.

The question is, has the processor two independent LAN? or there is only one MAC address/one IP address?

I need to have two distinct LAN (one for gigabit communication with a particular system and another connected to another LAN, both LAN must be gigabit and they must be separated, not connected through a switch.

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi,

The answer is that the CPSW interface can either be configured as a two port switch or a dual MAC interface. For example the Linux SDK provided by TI configures as a default as the CPSW as two independent ports. Both interfaces will have it's own MAC address.

    Best Regards,

    Schuyler
