TDA4VM: Panning in MSC or DSS?

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi,

I came across an FAQ mentioning DSS for zooming and Panning. Does that apply to TDA4 as well?.

Can i do panning(along with auto real time calibration) in MSC roi and DSS for zooming, both in real time?

Regards,
Dinesh

  • Hi Dinesh,

Yes, it does apply to TDA4x.

MSC and DSS are different modules in TDA4x, So cropping can be done in MSC and zooming in DSS.  But why do you want to crop in MSC? Are you also going to scale down the image after cropping in MSC? Because otherwise, you could do both the operations in DSS itself..

  • Hi Brijesh,

Yeah, we can do that also but there are some restrictions because of the lack of  output ports that are specific to our needs. So, trying to accommodate max possibilities with the available hardware.
On considering the same, what you are suggesting is based on the software right? Can that be applied for both VID and VIDL? If so, will there be any latency difference between MSC and DSS processes?

  • Hi Dinesh,

Cropping is based in SW, but zooming is not. It require scalar in the video pipeline, which is not available on VIDL pipeline. There are two video pipelines with the scalar, so you could support zoom operations for two video inputs..

Adding MSC will definitely add some latency, and also DDR BW, because it is a separate HW module..
