AM623: About NTP server and development environment

Genius 5300 points
Part Number: AM623

Hi experts,

Please let me confirm about the SDK for AM62x.

PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-AM62X(Version: 08.03.00.19 Release date: 30 May 2022)

Q1:Does this SDK support (or encompass) NTP server functionality?

Q2:To begin with, is it possible to implement an NTP server in AM62x?

Q3:Is it possible to develop TI's Processor using other companies' VS Code, etc.?

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hi,

Yes, the Processor SDK root filesystem (tisdk-default-image-am62xx-evm.wic.xz) provides NTP server: /usr/sbin/ntpd.

I am not sure if I understand your Q3, by VS Code, do you meant Microsoft Visio Studio Code or something else?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I meant Microsoft Visio Studio Code. Basically, AM62x is supposed to be used with Linux OS, so we are considering using Linux PC(Host) and CCS. I am wondering if it is possible to develop using Microsoft Visio Studio Code, etc. or if there is a proven track record.

    Best regards,
    O.H

  • Hi,

Yes, Linux host for development is preferred, but there is no limitation on the development environment installed in the Linux host, you developers can choose whatever tools they are comfortable with.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I understood!

    Best regards,
