TDA4VE peripheral has dual channel DDR. If only one DDR channel is used, how should the hardware handle it

TDA4VE peripheral has dual channel DDR.

Can only one DDR channel be used to connect 4GB DDR?

How to handle the hardware design of another unused channel?

  • Hi,

Yes, you can use a single DDRSS on TDA4VE. Either DDRSS0 or DDRSS1 may be used on this device.

In terms of hardware design of the unused interface, my understanding is all pins of the unused interface can be left unconnected except DDR_RET and DDR_CAL, which should both be tied to ground.

  • If one DDR is used, is there any requirement for the memory size of the DDR? For example, is it possible to use one piece of 4GB DDR?

  • A single DDRSS can support a 4GB LP4 memory.
