AM4372: Ethernet Booting of AM4372 with VSC8502 PHY

Hi,

My design uses VSC8502 PHY with AM4372 and requires ethernet booting to download bootloader. The application is running at 1Gbps Ethernet.

Since VSC8502 supports MII by default (to enable RGMII mode requires register programming), If I interface VSC8502 with AM4372 with RGMII signal and additionally connect MII signals (CRS, COL, RX_ER, TX_CLK) as in the picture, will I be able to boot AM4372 through Ethernet ?

In U-boot, we will switch from MII to RGMII as our application runs at 1Gbps Ethernet.

Kindly help me.

Hi,

I am not sure TI will be able to help with this support request. The solution you describe sounds plausible if the PHY supports changing interface modes using registers. I will need to discuss with the internal HW apps team member.
