Unable to connect to license server.

I bought ezDSP, and installed CCS4.
Along Section 3.0 on Quick Start Guide, I tried to create user license.
But not prompted license activation.

Next, I tried from "Help -> Licensing Option...".
Then I got a message window.
This window displays,

----------------------------
Welcome to Code Composer Studio

Unable to connect to license server.
Please contact your system administrator to resolve this issue.
----------------------------

Of course, I logged on Administrator user.
But, I got same message.
Please teach the method of settlement.

==My PC specs===
Windows XP (JPN) on VMware Fusion3(iMac's Boot camp area)

XDS100 is recognized in iMac, and it is recognized as "XDS560 PCI JTAG Emulator" in the device manager of Windows XP.
The LED program operates accurately.

  • Hello, Ming.

I got the CCSv4.0.2 from URL_1, and installed Platinum Version.
I read section "Activation Process" on URL_2, and understand "If I didn't have LICENSE, the CCSv4 will display 'dialog' automatically".
But, the CCSv4 don't display dialog.

  • HI Tukasa,

I think the problem is that your machine mis-recognize the XDS-100 emulator as XDS560 PCI JTAG. The CCS 4.0 is only free for XDS-100 and other emulator on TI DSP DSKs and EVMs. For XDS-560, you must purchase the Platinum version. I may be related to your VWware. Please try it on a PC with WinXP/Vista.

  • Hi, Ming.

    I uninstalled CCSv4, and reinstalled CCSv4 on Bootcamp(Windows XP).

Now, Windows XP recognizes 3 items.

The one of items is "Texas Instruments XDS560 PCI JTAG Emulator" in Texas Insturments Emulators category,
the others is "TI XDS100 Channel A" and "Channel B" in USB controller category.

On this environment, I tried CCSv4.
But, I can't yet watch the "License Dialog Window".

    > I think the problem is that your machine mis-recognize the XDS-100 emulator as XDS560 PCI JTAG.

    I tried to update driver.
    But, I can't find "XDS-100 driver" in CCSv4 folder.
Where do I get the "XDS-100 Driver"?

Please teach a method to revise recognition in "XDS-100" from "XDS-560".

  • Hi, Ming.

    I resolve this problem.
"LM_LICENSE_FILE=7790@localhost" was added to the environment variable though I did not understand the reason.
I deleted this environment variable, and started CCSv4.
    Then, CCSv4 showed License Dialog.

I do not understand why the environment variable was added, but I 1can keep using CCSv4 by this.

    Thank you for your support.

By the way, it was possible to use it also with VMware on iMac.
And, License authentication was able to do also.

I can use CCSv4 in both environments though the MAC address of a virtual machine and the network address of Bootcamp had to be made the same.
