PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X: NDK alternatives

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Hi all!

I've seen this note on the NDK main page:

Important note

As of May 10, 2021, due to the legacy nature of the TI NDK, the software product is in long-term maintenance, and as such there is no plan to provide new updates at this time. There will be no technical analysis provided for any new TI NDK PSIRT issues.

Please refer to the TI NDK release notes and TI PSIRT page for more information regarding known issues and vulnerabilities associated with this software product.

Is there any non legacy product with the same network functionality?

Could someone pinpoint to a commercial alternative compatible with SYS/BIOS?

I'm using NDK in AM335x and AM437x Sitara cpu.

Thank you!

  • Hello Eugenio

I am not aware of any alternative commercial alternative for network stack using RTOS. For AM437x the option would be to leverage the Linux SDK.

If that is not an option for you, and you need NDK support - I recommend reaching out to one of our 3P

    CONTACT : www.EmbeddedAdvantage.com | ericw@EmbeddedAdvantage.com

They have deep expertise on these products and SYSBIOS based offering and they maybe able to offer some support/consultancy on your specific needs for this product.

  • Hi Eugenio, this is Eric Wilbur with Embedded Advantage:  ericw@EmbeddedAdvantage.com. We would be happy to have an intro call with you and Elco Solutions, our development/consulting partner who has extensive NDK experience. I can walk you through the pricing and availability

  • And, answer any questions you have. If you email me...I can provide a one page summary of Elco Solutions' services and pricing. They help a TON of TI customers develop code, debug applications and design their software/hardware. They can scale from small debug help to helping you write protocol or driver code all the way to writing your entire application for you...where you can focus 100% on your specific IP. Let us know how we can help. Thanks, Eric

  • Thank you for this clarification.

NDK will continue to be compatible (although not supported) within the TI-RTOS (or PDK, or SYS/BIOS, you name it), or I should expect that NDK will struggle with newer software packages any time soon?

  • Eugenio

There are no new TI RTOS centric software packages planned for these devices. Your best bet would be to stick with the NDK and SDK package that exist today

NDK will not be tested against latest CCS ,compilers if we change those etc.

  • Hi Eugenio, let us know how we can help you. We are a preferred TI third party that can come alongside you, help write/develop code and/or debug your system. My contact info is in the thread above if you are interested. An intro call with the co-founder of Elco Solutions, who have vast experience with the NDK and this target device, is free...no obligation to investigate how we can help. Thanks, Eric
