31 cameras to soc/mcu

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM, TS5MP645

Hi,

Good Day.

Customer seen data on our website that TI is using 4 channel camera inputs to one channel output.

https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spracx9/spracx9.pdf

TI used 4 channels DeSer hub IC to interface 4 cameras. He need to interface 31 cameras to soc/mcu. Do you have any solution for this?

On page no.2, mentioned we can interface 32 cameras by the virtual concept. He need to understand how we can interface.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Roy Vincent,

Well, as such, CSIRX ip can support 32 channels as input, as long as total BW is less than 20gbps, but there isn't any hub device, which can merge so many channels, not even 16 channels..

So if you could have some custom device, which can merge 16 camera and output over CSI2, it can be supported/captured on TDA4VM device.

  • Hi Brijesh,

Good Day. Please see below another query from the customer. Thank you very much.

I am interfacing 31 cameras as shown in attached block diagram. will SOC support this king of interfacing?

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi Roy Vincent,

From the TDA4 point of view, yes, this is possible, as long as total CSI BW is less or equal to 10Gbps on CSI0 and and also transmitting device supports MIPI 2.0 compliant output, because MIPI1.3 can only support 4 virtual channels. MIPI2.0 can support 16 virtual channels.

Btw quick looks at the ts5mp645, it looks like it is a switch, not multiplexer. So can you please check if it can multiplex 2 CSI channels?
