Enabling Log in Android file system

I am  working with Omap3 EVM (android 2.3) and I want to enable the log for ALSA source files (e.g ALSAMixer.cpp) in the android file system. I tried to the "LOGV" log option in the source files but no log appeared on the minicom console. Is there any log file created which I need to look for?Kinldly suggest how to see the logs.
