TMS320C6205 PCI interface and the Intel H67 motherboards

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XIO2001

Hi

We have a series of products (sound cards) based on the C6205 DSP.  We use the PCI interface.  These products have performed reliably in all motherboards we have tested with for over 7 years.

Recently we have started testing with Sandy Bridge CPU based motherboards.  Unlike previous Intel chipsets, the PCI bus is created from an external PCIe to PCI bridge (i.e the PCI interface is not part of the Intel chipset)

We have found that certain motherboards (i.e Intels own DH67CL) will not work with our C6205 based products.  The computer will lockup when the driver loads.  Other motherboards that use the same chipset but a different PCIe-PCI bridge work OK.  None of the bridge chips are TIs (i.e XIO2001)

Was wondering if TI was aware of this or had had reports of other DSPs with PCI interfaces (DM642, 648 etc) causing problems.

thanks

Steve
