AM625: SDK OpenGL demo issues

Hi,

My customer is evaluating AM625 with SK-AM62 and Processor SDK Linux Version: 08.03.00.19.
Customer found HMI_demo and PowerVR demos (3d_chameleon, 3d_coverflow, 3d_exampleui, etc.) worked fine.
But Qt 3D demo behavior was quite slow with FullHD size.
- hellogles3 was ~1fps
- qopenglwindow and openglwindow are also very slow if screen size is over WXGA

The customer uses the SDK default image on SD card.
What was wrong?

Hello Koichiro,

What is the performance expectation here? Please keep in mind that HMI_demo, PowerVR demo and hellogles3 stress the GPU in different ways. They are not the same applications and you cannot perform apples to apples comparisons. Please share more details about what FPS the customer was expecting and why?

Do you mean PowerVR demo and HMI demo are less stressful compared to Qt demos?
It seems Qt demo looks simpler (just moving triangle).
Customer wonders there is an issue to use Qt.

Customer's system requirements are below. Are they feasible by AM62x?
Image size : Full-HD
FPS : min. 30fps, 60fps is preferred.

Hello Koichiro,

No, I don't think there is an issue to use Qt on AM62x because the HMI demo was created on top of Qt and it runs smoothly. I understand your customer's requirement but could you ask them to share a more realistic example. I am not sure I understand how hellogles3 is related to their end application. Also, hellogles3 comes from Qt community and we don't know what platform it's designed to run on. There could be some performance optimization that need to be performed on that application.

I am not a graphics expert. Could you tell me what kinds of information do you want from the customer?
