TDA4VM: Difference between functionality of Power on/off switch and reset switch

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi team,
I am using TDA4VM_j721e_EVM.
I want to know what is the functionality wise difference between slider power on/off switch and a reset push button switch provided on EVM.
will they act different for my registers of cores?

Tanvi

    Tanvi,

Our board experts will be able to comment in detail.

The slider power on/off completely shuts down the voltage rails of PMIC. So The whole SoC is shut off.
On the other hand the reset push button does not really turn off the voltages but warm resets the whole SoC & its moudle.

    This is the fundamental difference.

    - Keerthy

  • Keerthy statement is correct.  The slide power on/off completely removes power from the entire EVM.  When power is re-applied and the power supplies are energized, all the system resets are applied.

The push button(s) only generate the resets.  Note there are 4 buttons, one for each processor reset.  (MCU_PORz, MCU_RESETz, PORz (main), RESETz (main).
