Spread Spectrum Clock for DM648

Can a spread spectrum clock be used as input to CLKIN2 (PLL2) on the DM648?

Searching through the documents and forums, it seems like this is not something that has been characterized by TI, and therefore isn't recommended. Still, I would like to understand if it is possible.

Thanks,
David

  • Spread Spectrum input Clock for DM648 is not supported. The PLL would tend to filter out the variations in period. The internal clock would not match the input clock.

It could cause the PLL to go unstable, if there is enough phase shift in the input clock.
