AM5716: DDR3L ADDR/CMD/CNTL buses in point-to-point systems for AM5716

Part Number: AM5716
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS51200

Dear TI experts,

in my design I connected a Sitara AM5716 to two DDR3L (MT41K256M16TW) without ECC memory. At the moment, they are in a fly-by architecture with a Vtt and Vref driven by one chip TPS51200. It work all fine.

Due to the shortage of the component, TPS51200 is very hard to find and I would like to change to a tree architecture without series R (see technical note from Micron TN-41-13: DDR3 Point-to-Point Design Support Terminating Point-to-Point Systems) removing the DC/DC converter from the board. This solution would reduce the board size, too. Both two DDR3L memories are very close to Sitara, less than 1 inch.

And from Micron TN-46-14 (Hardware Tips for Point-to-Point System Design Routing):

Does Sitara AM5716 works with this architecture?

Could you help me with layout, driver resistors value, net length,...? Maybe with a dedicated application note.

Thank you

Francesco
