AM3358: am3358

Part Number: AM3358

HI:

Recently, I was testing WiFi, but found that 5G AP could not be generated, while 2.4G  AP work normal.

and then check the frequency by "iw reg get",It is found that 5g  AP cannot be used:

global
country 00: DFS-UNSET
(2402 - 2472 @ 40), (6, 20), (N/A)
(2457 - 2482 @ 20), (6, 20), (N/A), AUTO-BW, PASSIVE-SCAN
(2474 - 2494 @ 20), (6, 20), (N/A), NO-OFDM, PASSIVE-SCAN
(5170 - 5250 @ 80), (6, 20), (N/A), AUTO-BW, PASSIVE-SCAN
(5250 - 5330 @ 80), (6, 20), (0 ms), DFS, AUTO-BW, PASSIVE-SCAN
(5490 - 5730 @ 160), (6, 20), (0 ms), DFS, PASSIVE-SCAN
(5735 - 5835 @ 80), (6, 20), (N/A), PASSIVE-SCAN
(57240 - 63720 @ 2160), (N/A, 0), (N/A)

So I tried to set up CRDA by "iw reg set US",Unfortunately, this did not work.

Then I checked the corresponding firmware and found that they all exist

ls /lib/firmware/regulatory.db*
/lib/firmware/regulatory.db /lib/firmware/regulatory.db.p7s

But there are errors in the startup log:

dmesg | grep regulatory
[ 2.230878] cfg80211: Loading compiled-in X.509 certificates for regulatory database
[ 2.249693] platform regulatory.0: Direct firmware load for regulatory.db failed with error -2
[ 2.258518] cfg80211: failed to load regulatory.db

Could you give me some suggestions?

  • Hi,

Is this on your custom board or TI AM335x EVM?

  • Thank you for your reply. Customized board based on am335x EVM, using the latest SDK.

  • Hi Miller,

What is the WIFI chip used on the board? The log seems telling its firmware loading failed.

  • Hi:

NXP sd8997, WiFi 2.4G AP and sta are normal, but 5g AP is abnormal, indicating sdiouart8997_ combo_ V4.bin firmware can be loaded correctly

But why can't we set CRDA parameters?

  • Hi Miller,

None of the WIFI device and software is from TI, this is out of the support scope on this forums. I recommend to ask the chip vendor for help.

  • Hi:

I have solved this problem, the CRDA code and regulatory.bin is not added to the default SDK. I need to modify the yocto configuration. Then the 5g AP works normally.
