AM6412: Mac-to-mac supported through MII in Linux SDK?

Dear Champs,

Could you please let me know if Mac-to-mac supported in CPSW through MII in AM64x Linux SDK?

My customer want to connect FPGA through MII and to check if MAC-to-MAC was supported in CPSW through MII to connect FPGA.

I found below in MCU+ SDK and it seemed MAC-to-MAC connection was supported in AM64x, but I could not find it in Linux SDK.

Could you please let me know if MAC-to-MAC connection was supported in AM64x Linux SDK to communicate with FPGA through MII?

Yes PHY-less connection is supported, with AM6412 CPSW you'd probably want to use RGMII. The complexity will be in designing the hardware so timings are met but from the Linux SW directtion this is just a "fixed-link" entry in the device tree. https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/v4.0/source/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/net/fixed-link.txt is a good introduction, the dedicated fixed-link.txt documentation file is part of the ethernet-controller.yaml file in newer kernels.

There is an example of at https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux-rt/esd/AM64X/latest/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/PRU-ICSS/Linux_Drivers/PRU_ICSSG_Ethernet.html?highlight=fixed#fixed-link in the SDK is the same regardless of it being ICSSG or CPSW based RGMII. Also with CPSW2G this post https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/924231/tda4vm-mcu-rgmii-phy-connection shows a fixed-link setup.
