PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: How to Enable Cut-Through on ICSSG

Dear forum,

I have the AM64 EVM PROC101B. This board has two ethernet ports on the ICSS, and one on the CPSW. The instructions for enabling cut-through on the CPSW are pretty clear.

How can I enable cut-through between the ICSS ports? I believe the ICSS ports are eth1 and eth2, which are ports 1 and 2. So maybe the procedure is the same, i.e. write bits to the cut_thru_r/tx_pri_mask.

In our production system we intend to have four ethernet ports. Two on ICSSG0, and two on CPSW. Will we also be capable of enabling cut-through for both subsystems? I understand cut-through can't be enabled for traffic between ICSSG <-> CPSW.

Hello Brian,

I am not sure whether we enabled PRU Ethernet as a switch (as opposed to two separate EMACs) on AM64x ICSSG. I am double checking. Please ping the thread if I have not responded by the end of this week.

Hello Brian,

I am not able to find any documentation stating that PRU Ethernet on AM64x currently supports switch functionality.

I have sent another message double-checking in with the development team. I am going on vacation for the rest of August, so I will not be able to respond. Another team member will be watching this thread while I'm out.

In Linux SDK (8.2) and https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS64GPEVM by default eth0 and eth1 are CPSW3G, and only eth2 is ICSSG. One of the three physical RJ-45 connectors on the (the top one of the dual connector, eth1) uses the RGMII that the internal pin mux can select to be from CPSW3G or ICSSG. By default it is CPSW3G. Like Nick points out the 8.2 SDK does not include testing or examples for configuring the pin mux and examples for ICSSG based switch.

Thank you Pekka. I was able to enable cut-through on the CPSW ports on the AM64 EVM.
