Hi experts,

My customer's board outputs an ECC error when a Skipping bad block is detected

Their environment is below.

Software : Project 1.6(daisy)
NAND : MT29F2G08ABAEAWP:E (Micron)
Board : My customer's original board

My customer's board does not output an ECC error when no Skipping bad blocks are detected.

I attach the bootlog.

The first two are two boards that detect Skipping bad blocks, and the third is a board that doesn't output ECC errors.

Do you know what to do to eliminate these errors?

I will confirm with the customer if there is any other necessary information.

Hello,
From your attached log files, it looks to me there're NAND operations before loading kernel/dtb/UBI...
Can you elaborate what these NAND operations (erate, read, write...) @u-boot are used for?

My customer is testing NAND with UBOOT. Therefore, such operations are performed before loading kernel/dtb/UBI.

Hello,
It is normal for u-boot to skip NAND bad blocks once detected.
- Have we used the same NAND test sequence on all testing boards?
- How many boards showed the symptom?
- How many boards were tested?

- 17 boards showed symptoms
- 2000 boards tested

Have the customer crossed checked with the NAND device vendor to get their comments on the symptoms?

Hi Hong-san,

No. The customer has not yet received comment from the NAND device vendor.

They will contact the NAND device vendor if there are no problems with the AM335x.

With this failure rate, should they contact the NAND device vendor first?
