I'm going to attempt direct nor boot for AM1808.

And I found the following topic in E2E forum for OMAP-L138.

Is there possibly same problem on AM1808 related to chip revision ?

It is not expected that you would see this on AM1808 production samples.

Please check the DEVIDR0 register value for your device. The details for this are in the AM1808 datasheet http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/am1808.pdf

Pg 255 (Section 5.34.4.1), if the value is 0x1B7D102F, then even if you have the SATA VDD pins unconnected, you should not see any issue booting, at least with respect to the forum post you pointed out.

My AM1808 revision is 1.1, so I will use AIS boot.

If you are using Rev 1.1 AND did not have the SATA_VDD pins connected to power, then you can have issues booting up the device. If the SATA_VDD was connected then you should be fine booting irrespective of what boot mode you choose.
