SK-AM62: INA226 need for AM62x SD EVM

Part Number: SK-AM62
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA226

Hi,

The INA226 is inserted in most of the power lines in the AM62x SD EVM schematic.

I assume you're monitoring current or voltage, but is it necessary for normal operation?

It is necessary to reduce cost and board area by omitting non-essential components in mass-produced products. So I would like to know if it is required.

Thanks,

Astro

  • Hello Astro,

    Thank you for the query.

INA226 is useful during prototype. For mass production it is customer dependent.

You could consider provisioning the shunt on the board with Test point for initial prototyping and later remove the shunt.to further optimize cost with minimum  changes.
