What sort of streaming video are you trying to capture?

What i mean is that, the software for IPNC is currently loaded onto the DM365 EVM. When i boot it up,the IPNC interface is what shows. I want to achieve video streaming from a composite video in through a cam via USB onto my laptop. Kindly give suggestions in this regard. I was thinking about Gstreamer,EUCDK as well as UVC drivers. Kindly guide me sir ,in the direction i should proceed.Thank you.

How did you get the IPNC software on the EVM, that is not something that ships with the EVM?

The IPNC does not support USB streaming.

I recommend that you purchase the DM36x EUDK from Leopard Imaging (https://www.leopardimaging.com/DM36xEUCDK.html).  This implements USB streaming and uses the same framework as the IPNC.

If i download Uimage and UBL and then burn it to my board, will that be enough to run the program? Will it run on my Spectrum Digital EVM? Kindly help in this regard. Thanks a lot. You are really helpful.

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to these questions.  Hopefully someone else will jump in with an answer.

Because the board for the EUCDK and the spectrum digital evm is different the UBL MAY not work.  You'll need to use the UBL compatible with Specturm digital EVM.   Otherwise you'll need to purchase the EUCDK reference platform.

You can use the code base of EUCDK as reference and implement USB (UVC) streaming on IPNC software. The software stack of EUCDK and IPNC is very similar and hence UVC implementation can easily be ported.

BTW, UVC is already supported in the kernel (even the one provided with IPNC). The application that uses UVC is the one that is implemented on EUCDK. In summary, if you want, you can implement your own USB streaming application which uses UVC class of the kernel, if you dont want to use EUCDK software stack.

Thank you for your kind reply. So,as you say sir,if UVC is already there in the kernel( even in the IPNC), i dont need to find and incorporate the UVC drivers into the kernel and then flash right? I dont intend on buying the EUCDK software stack.Could you kindly guide me to as to how to use the already provided UVC drivers to achieve video streaming? As in , the steps i need to take to utilize these drivers, and make a simple and very basic application to stream video. Thanks sir.

Ajay,

The easiest path to get this working is using the Leopard Imaging reference code.  Such a reference SDK has not been implemented on the DM365 EVM.

Both software solutions, LI USB webcam and IPNC, have the same av_server. For video data transfers, the writer thread in LI USB webcam does uvc_send() instead of writing to buffer, which is what the IPNC av_server does. There is a control interface in control thread to receive commands from USB host, control av-server and send back responses to Host.

The IPNC doesn't have a port of this code working on EVM. To get it working on the EVM, you will need to take LI code, verify on EVM and fix all issues that comes up, which is not so trival.  Otherwise the best option is to purchase the LI (which is recommended).

Thanks for the reply. So i did ended up buying the EUCDK camera and software. Thing is,i still want to be able to run it on my DVEVM. Since as u say,USB streaming cannot be achieved within IPNC, if i port the EUCDK platform to my board,that should be able to do it i suppose? The video in being a composite input? Kindly reply.

From previous comments the EUCDK should run, with modifications, on the DVEVM.  The required modifications are necessary due to board differences.
