Could not find any generic workaround as such. Can you please provide your exact use case like the GPIO instance and the core you are using etc? I'll be able to provide better suggestion based on that.

I did not verify this by myself, because I am currently not working on GPIO related stuff. But since the mentioned issue is still unresolved (https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-10914), It is very likely, that this issue is still open.
