Hi Team,
A customer has an inquiry on this device, can you help me to clarify it?
As for AMIC110 Sitara SoC, can we change the protocols between EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP without hardware modification?
Are IP fees requested for EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP. Where can I get technical support? Do you supply an EtherCAT master IC?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Frank
Yes, AMIC110 you can change the protocols between EtherCAT And EtherNet/IP without hardware mod change. Please refer to the TI Design here to see the demonstration of this capability shown at Electronica and SPS few years back:
Multi-Protocol Industrial Ethernet Detection With PRU-ICSS for Industrial Automation (Rev. A)
Reference design also has links to individual protocol product folders and information on support. I can`t comment on the IP fees and have asked business teams to comment on that for AMIC110 design.
Is there any reason AM243 or AM64 class device is not being considered for this design ? On these devices stacks completely from Kunbus and TI. It is one stop shop for integrated protocol solution :KUNBUS-3P-INDUSTRIALCOMMS by KUNBUS | TI.com
EtherCAT master stacks can run on Sitara Cortex A class devices like AM64, AM62 with stacks like Codesys and Acountis stacks. This stack doesn`t need ICSS and can run on ARM core using Linux.
