the relationship between dvsdk and kernel of board

Dear sir,

I am a beginner,  I want to use the develop tools DVSDK_2_00_00_22, and the platform is DM6467, but the development board is my private board,

now the version of kernel is 2.6.10,  it runs very well on my own platform,   but  the DVSDK_2_00_00_22 , it needs the kernel that it's version is  2.6.18

what can I do if  I'd like to use the DVSDK_2_00_00_22,  I must update the kernel to new version kernel?

if so,  this is to say,  the DVSDK is relation with the actural board, and the DVSDK is not a common development tool,  the users must get your development board if

they would like to use the new DVSDK, is'nt it?

or other methord, users must modify the kernel and rootfs of your development tools, for their own development boards, I think it is too complex to a common user ,

Could you give me other solutions?

 thank you
