[C6455] Derated life at different speeds/temps

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6455

Hello folks,

I am looking at the TMS320C6455 and I am told that the rated life of the part is at 750 Mhz so if using the part at 1 Ghz the life is derated. Is this correct? I did not see it in the datasheet or errata.

I think what I am looking for is data pertaining to the number of power-on hours at different frequencies/voltages as well as temperatures. Is this available in any fashion? I've seen the spreadsheet to calculate MTBF/FIT under these types of conditions but nothing regarding POH values for this device.

  • TimHarron,

From whom did you hear this about the 750MHz value? They should be the first path to find the source of the answer. It could have come from an out-of-date silicon rev or a specific process node or something else.

Somewhere there is a specification of what it means for TI to release a part as TMS-qualified. Any deviation from that would be clearly specified in a datasheet. I do not know where that TMS spec is, so I am not helping a lot, sorry.

    Regards,
    RandyP
