AM389x and IEEE 1588 & 802.1AS ?

I know this question has been asked of the DM814x parts in their forum. Does anyone know if the AM389x is in the same boat as the post below implies? I can't find any docs hinting at IEEE 1588 or 802.1AS for either of these parts, only for Stellaris range. Are there any docs that list this capability?

We're about to get hold of an eval kit so it would be nice to understand where this is on any roadmap (if it is possible to support on this HW), as this would further extend the usefullness of this device for our applications.

The AM389x does not support IEEE 1588 or 802.1AS.

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the quick reply. So does DM814x / DM816x support this function? Although the posts on the other thread seem to indicate yes but no SW yet, it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere I could see. And I guessed that if it was supported on those chips it would also be on AM389x.

The DM816x and C6A816x also do not support it. The thread you referenced above about the DM814x HW support but no SW support yet is correct.

OK I got it now; 814x vs 816x has different ethernet configuration, with 814x having the time stamping support in HW as per the datasheet.

Are there any other devices in the AMxxxx or other families with support for IEEE-1588?

I'm not really sure. You might want to try searching the Forums or ti.com for IEEE-1588.
