Can multiple C6474 devices use the same SmartReflex supply?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PTH08T240F

One of our customers has a design where they are planning for 8 C6474 DSPs on their board.

Most of the application notes and EVM explains about  power supply (CVDD) for single processor along with Smart reflex technolgy (each processor has a seperate regulator for CVDD). Is it possible to configure a single regulator chip  for multiple number of  C6474  processors?

Could you please advise.

Thanks and regards, Vedananda Gowd.R

  • The datasheet and the Hardware Design Guide both state that "[SmartReflex on CVDD] requires a voltage regulator for each [DSP] device." The Hardware Design Guide includes one recommendation for a way to implement SmartReflex with the PTH08T240F, and this will use 8 of the PTH08T240F on the customer's board.

SmartReflex is a very important design and use feature that keeps the total power consumption at an optimized point for each DSP. So your design with 8x DSPs will be substantially helped by SmartReflex. The addition of a core voltage regulator for each DSP will add to the average board space, but the SmartReflex feature is a very worthwhile feature and worthy of this impact to your board.

SmartReflex is required for the C6474. There must be a separate CVDD SmartReflex supply for each C6474 on the board.
