PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: AM62x add systemd-analyze support

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM62

Hi all,

can you explain or give some hint about how to add systemd-analyze feature to linux-default-image running into an SK-am62 board.

I have seen that linux filesystem taken from processor sdk intallation, has not this feature included, and i would like to add it.

I am newbie to linux distibution and yocto and i still need to familiarize with it.

Do i need to add a package to current file system or do i need to rebuild full filesystem from zero??

Thank you

Kind Regards

Emanuele Peruzzi

  • Hi Emanuele,

I am routing your query to our Yocto expert for comments.

  • Emanuele,

when you do a Yocto build of the AM62x SDK the 'systemd-analyze' tool gets actually already build into a package as part of the 'systemd' build itself, however it is not deployed into the target image.

As usual there are several ways to allow you getting access to this tool, for example...

    1. Copy the systemd-analyze package to your target system and install it using the opkg package manager (via opkg install <package_name>). On my build machine that package can be found on the 'deploy/ipk/' directory, specifically here: './arago-tmp-external-arm-glibc/deploy/ipk/aarch64/systemd-analyze_244.5-r0.arago6.0_aarch64.ipk'

    2. You can get it added to your deployable SDK card image by adding the below two lines to your 'local.conf' file...

      # Install some extra packages (provide space-separated list)
      CORE_IMAGE_EXTRA_INSTALL:append = " systemd-analyze"

Doing so will locate the file at '/usr/bin/systemd-analyze' in the target filesystem

    3. You can add the 'systemd-analyze' package to one of the existing package groups, also see here https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/793076/linux-dra745-psdk0304-add-systemd-analyze
