Install problems with DVSDK for L138 EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Hi,

I am having difficulty installing the DVSDK for the OMAPL138 EVM (4.02.00.06). I am following the instructions here:

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/dvsdk/DVSDK_4_00/latest/index_FDS.html

When I try to install the SDK as described in section five, I get this:

$ ./dvsdk_omapl138-evm_4_02_00_06_setuplinux

application-specific initialization failed: bad end of central directory record

%

Note the % prompt that results. I have to Ctrl-C to get the $ back.

What is going wrong?

Cheers,

John.

  • John,

It looks like the download is corrupted or incomplete.  I would try getting it again.  I'll also download and install and will then provide an exact size and md5 sum for you to compare against.

  • Hi Daniel,

Yes: it appears the download was corrupted. I downloaded twice with IE8 under Windows XP and both times the installation failed with the error I reported above. Both files had different sizes too, and different again from that stated on the download page. I then downloaded using Firefox under Ubuntu 10.04 and got a file with yet another different size, but this file worked and the DVSDK installed OK.

Now. There is a line in the installation instructions that reads like this:

Internet Explorer users: right click, select Save As. In the file dialog change the file type to All Files before saving the file (otherwise the installer will be saved as a text file).

Is this to do with my problem? Thing is that the instructions don't work because right clicking to 'save as' is not allowed because of the need to get download export approval. Further, after getting approval, and eventually getting a file save dialog, 'All Files' is already selected - so perhaps this is not the problem? What do you think? Was I just unlucky (twice), or is there an issue with downloading via IE8?

    Cheers,

    John.

  • John,

I personally use Firefox, unless there is specific reason to use IE8, so I don't think I can answer that question.  Seeing as there is that warning text in the installation instructions, I think it may be possible that there is some specific problem (or was at some point in the past).

Unfortunately, I can't say for sure.  But I'm glad to hear that you were able to get the file.

    Regards, Daniel
