AM3352: Errata Workarounds source code

Genius 13655 points

Hello Champs,

Customer used old SDK: uboot 2013.01.01, kernel 3.2.0

He found there is a errata workaround in Linux SDK 06.03

LCPD-13887 DDR Controller ECC Scrubbing feature can cause DRAM data corruption
https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/docs/06_03_00_106/AM335X/linux/Release_Specific_PLSDK_Release_Notes.html

He wondered where is the source code or document for above errata workaround.

He doesn't want to migrate to the newer processor SDK, so he wants to patch the errata in the old SDK.

Thanks
Rgds

  • Shine,

I looked at the internal history of the LCPD-13887 defect. It says the issue was ultimately rejected internally because of "H/W ECC is disabled in linux implementation so this defect is not required". Unless the customer uses ECC this should not be a concern then.

  • Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your reply, I'm the person who asked this question to shine.

So according to my understanding, I misunderstood before, because AM335x does not support DDR ECC function at present, so this defect is not important. Is it right?

I had another look, yes, AM335x does not even support DDR-ECC as it would require special HW. The internal issue known as LCPD-13887 was assigned somehow to all of our platforms no matter if they were actually capable of DDR-ECC or not. This sometimes is done during the investigation phase to make sure we look into all possibilities before refining/narrowing the scope of an issue. Basically, in case of AM335x the issue should not have even gotten listed in the release notes.
