We are looking for an alternative to the TMS320C6747. We are looking to increase performance by offloading certain general-purpose tasks (e.g., peripheral interrupts and other tasks) by introducing another DSP and/or a general-purpose CPU, namely the TMS320C6757 or the OMAP-L138. We would like to better understand the portability of the code from one family/series to another. Is there backwards compatibility for both these parts? Could the code base we currently have for the C674x series port over from the C6747 to the OMAP-L138 and/or the C6657?
