AEC-AER Librairies : 16 KHz Sampling Frequency Support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L137

Hi.

I'm currently testing the AER Librairies on OMAP-L137 EVM  with a home-made audio Expansion Board.

Audio are sampled at 16 kHz, but Echo Cancellation seems   to work  only  with  0-4KHz signal.

I read In the Quick Tuning Guide  : " If AER is running at 16kHz, configure AER such that high band is dropped for both Tx
and Rx paths by setting bits aer_CTL1_DROP_TX_HIGH_BAND and
aer_CTL1_DROP_RX_HIGH_BAND respectively."

Should I conclude that Echo Cancellation can not work on the 4KHz-8KHz frequency band ?

  • Hi,

The AER adaptive filter that models the echo path is running at 8kHz sampling frequency, or 0-4kHz bandwidth. However, AER still runs at 16kHz sampling frequency. For 4kHz-8kHz band, echo is simply suppressed, not adaptively cancelled.
