User interface design with 6437

Hi,

I would like to ask a question on designing user interface with 6437 alone.

I am not using DSP/BIOS but just "naked" code. Under this situation, is it possible to design somewhat "fancy" user interface like those of smart phones? Put it more concretely:

  1. How to do animation?
  2. How to implement different fonts?
  3. How to create special visual effect (shadow, glowing, fading, etc.)

In principle they should be all possible since DSP has a complete set of instructions to perform any task, but without the supporting of OS, would it be painful or laborious? How much improvement can I expect if using DSP/BIOS?

For things like smart phone, do they all use ARM or other ordinary processor for interface? If the device also contain DSP, is the DSP primarily used for computational work only?

The last question is on software systems for supporting these effects. I have heard from someone that there exist a company whose name contains "virtual logic" whose technology avails rich user interface experience on TI DSPs. Has anyone ever heard of it?

Thanks,

Zheng
