TDA4VM: Whether encode driver can use high 32-bit memory

Hi, TI,

The encode drive(wave5.ko) of TDA4VECO requires cma memory. We successfully applied for a piece of cma memory in the high 32-bit address space, with a size of 512M(addr = 0x8 9000 0000, size = 0x2000 0000).

No error occurred during the loading of the drive.

But errors will occur when we call the following interface.

Whether encode driver can use high 32-bit memory？How do I need to modify it if I can.

We found that there are restrictions in the driver that prevent access to 64 bit addresses

Why code can only access lower 32 bits? Does the VH encode module not support high 32 bits？

Hi Xin,

The driver supports 48-bit addresses. You can use higher 32 bit memory addresses but it is disabled by default.

If the use case is to allocate cma memory in the higher 32-bit, then apply the below patch.
