Hello

I am reading the document , TMS320DM647/DM648 DSP 3 Port Switch (3PSW) Ethernet Subsystem.

There are few terms that I have no idea , can anyone please elaborate :

Flow _ Thresh

CFI

VLAN tag

VLAN ID

A lot of terms I hve come across for the first time , can anyone please mention any document that help in better understanding this 3PSW Ethernet Subsystem.

I do not do much work with the DM648 Ethernet subsystem, but I think the CFI and VLAN terms refer to Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), and Canonical Format Indicator (CFI) and are part of 802.1Q. There are a number of threshold values mentioned in the Ethernet subsystem guide, I believe the flow threshold registers just setup a trigger to implement flow control based on FIFO status.

Thank you , but i am confused as how to these terms such as thresh values and block count effect da performance of my DM648. So i need in depth understanding of these terms ....

If plz u hve more information to share do let me because ... i hve searched da net and there is not much there
