CCSTUDIO: Installation Fails

Hi Experts,

Seeking your assistance on this query:

I would like to install Code Composer Studio version 12.1.0 on my laptop which running on Windows 10 Enterprise, version 21H2 build 19044.2130. However, the installation never goes to the end.

It looks like the installer is blocked in an infinite loop that creates new thread called Driver Package Installer. In less than 5 minutes more than 200 threads are created using 1.3 Gb memory in total.

Please see attached some screenshots. Is it something you are aware of? What can I do to fix this problem?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hello,

Can the customer provide any generated logs in <CCS INSTALL DIR>\ccs\install_logs ?

What antivirus is running on the customer PC? Did they try disabling it before installing?

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Ki,

Thanks for the advice. Cx just responded.

I attached the log folder to the conversation. I tried to install the version twice, so I think the correct folder would be the latest one. We are using CrowdStrike as antivirus and I don't think I am able to deactivate it for the installation. I can actually ask our IT service.

    Thank you.

  • These are all the logs? I was expecting much more. The main install log is missing.

We are using CrowdStrike as antivirus and I don't think I am able to deactivate it for the installation. I can actually ask our IT service.

Please have the customer request temporary deactivation. Or at least have them whitelist the CCS installer.

    Thanks

  • Hello Ki,

    Responded:

It is everything I found in C:\ti\ccs1210\ccs\install_logs
But I attach the ccs folder zip file, It should contains everything you need.

I can't temporarily disable the antivirus, but I asked to whitelist the CCS installer, I am waiting for an answer.

It corresponds to the install_info and install_logs folders

    ccs.zip

  • Thanks. This zip file has the additional log that I was looking for.

In the main log, this appears to the where the issue occured:

    [11:35:33] CCS_INFO: In installationAbortedActionList
[11:35:33] CCS_WARNING: Code Composer Studio 12.1.0.00007 install cancelled by user.
    [11:36:00] CCS_INFO: Return values from downloadMarker software-dl.ti.com/.../CCS12.1.0.00007_tia_windows-x64_cancelled_offline_4.zip: 200
    [11:36:01] CCS_INFO: Deleting C:\ti\ccs1210/ccs? : !false
    Cannot delete file C:/ti/ccs1210/ccs/ccs_base
    Cannot delete file C:/ti/ccs1210/ccs/eclipse
    [11:36:01] Moving logfile to C:\ti\ccs1210/ccs/install_logs/20221017112454/ccs_install_12.1.0.00007.log
I assume the installer got stuck and the customer forced cancellation of the installer.
I'm pretty sure the issue is do the a conflict with the antivirus software. Please let me know if the customer was able to whitelist the CCS installer
    Thanks

  • Hello Ki,

Apology as it took so long for the other side to get information from their IT department.

    They have some news:
The IT department needs a confirmation of the location of the additional downloads.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Archie A.

  • The IT department needs a confirmation of the location of the additional downloads.

Note that the offline installer should come with all the packages needed to install CCS - meaning that no other packages would need to be downloaded to complete the installation. If this information sufficient?

    Thanks

    ki
