AM623: Setting the operating frequency

Guru 10235 points

Part Number: AM623

Hi Support Team,

Is it possible to set the operating frequency of A53 to any value, for example, 680MHz or 825MHz?
Also, can the M4 core be set to any value, such as 300MHz or 211MHz?

I have checked 5.4 Clocking of the draft TRM, but it is unclear and I could not understand it.
Could you please tell me where is the register to set the value of divider that generates PLL8?

Best regards,
Kanae

  • I'm going to assign this thread to someone that can help you use the new clock tree tool to better understand the various clock paths.

I will also ask our clocking expert about reduced operating frequencies.

  • The operating frequency of the M4 core is fixed. The operating frequency of A53 can be varied with the max frequency defined by the device speed grade which are defined in the Device Speed Grades table in the datasheet.

I was told the new clock tree tool has not been released to the public. The following registers can be used to configure PLL8 which sources the A53.

    • PLL8_CTRL
    • PLL8_SS_CTRL
    • PLL8_SS_SPREAD
    • PLL8_FREQ_CTRL0
    • PLL8_FREQ_CTRL1
    • PLL8_DIV_CTRL
    • PLL8_HSDIV_CTRL0

    Regards,
    Paul
