AM6442: Marvell 88E6341 SWITCH MDIO issue

Part Number: AM6442

Hello,

We are using the AM6442 processor CPSW port and Marvell 88E6341 switch.  we configured CPSW port in RGMII mode. Our issue is we couldn't be able to connect the Switch through the MDIO port to access the registers.

Could you please let us how to connect the Switch with MDIO port and do we need to add anything extra in device tree?

Regards

Uma M

  • Hi,

I apologize for the delay, is this post still an issue? Unfortunately TI is not able to support interfacing to an external switch. However, several users have successfully integrated an external switch on the CPSW of Sitara processors.

The MDIO driver is written expecting to talk with the standard set of MII registers for a single port therefore will not work with a switch directly.

This link to a previous e2e post has someone who was able to implement what you are possibly describing. While it is a bit old the suggestion is probably still valid.

In the above link there is note that the CPSW node should be set to fixed link and point to the documentation on how to do that. There may be other methods to access the switch registers.

    Best Regads,

    Schuyler
