TMS320C6746: CCS Load program

Hello all, I have a problem with the TMS320C6746.

I am using TMS320C6746 in serial boot mode from EEPROM.

I have connected CCS for debugging to fix a bug, but the fix is not reflected.

I have checked and found that if the program is not stored in the EEPROM, it works according to the out file written from the CCS.

However, if the program is stored in the EEPROM, it runs with the program in the EEPROM even if the out file is written.

How can this phenomenon be solved?

Hello Suzuki,

How did you verify the .out file is loaded to the EEPROM? A special flashing tool is needed to write program to the EEPROM. Please refer to this application note for details.

Hellow Jianzhong,

Writing to the EEPROM is done separately.

The out file is transferred from CCS to DSP when the debugger is connected.

The target board is powered on and the DSP is started by serial boot.

After that, when the debugger is connected from CCS, the out file is written to the DSP.

(The out file is slightly different from the program in the EEPROM because of bug fixes.)

When the program is executed, it does not work with the contents of the out file, but with the contents of the EEPROM.

How can I make it work with the out file to proceed with debugging?

By the way, if there is no program in the EEPROM, the serial boot seems to fail, so the DSP does not seem to start.

If I connect the debugger here, it works with the contents of the out file.

How did you verify that your .out file was loaded to EEPROM and running from EEPROM?

The out file is not written to EEPROM.
It is written to RAM inside the DSP.

What do you mean here by "when the program is executed"? What is this program? How did you start the program execution? Does the RAM still have the .out file when the program starts?

Hellow Jianzhong,

Program execution is started by pressing the resume button on the CCS.
The DSP's RAM at this time is running with the EEPROM program.
It is not running in the out file.

The out file has a bug fix (changed the register address of the peripheral), so the difference in behavior is certain.

Does the TMS320C6746 need to be non-boot mode when connecting CCS?
