SK-TDA4VM: How to compile custom C71 app

Part Number: SK-TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

Hi

We are using the SDK ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j721e-evm-08_04_00_06 on the TDA4VM and we are playing with the example app_c7x_kernel under basic_demos in vision_apps.

We are currently editing all the different files of the example and especially the ones under c7x to change the add operator with some others from VXLIB.

To compile our examples we are using the command : `make vision_apps` on a side PC and then we are sending the corresponding .out executable (found in out/J7/A72/LINUX/release) onto the SK board.

We noticed our changes in the main.c and app_c7x_kernel_img_add.c are taken into account, but the modifications under the c7x folder seems not to be.

Are we supposed to do something about the corresponding .lib file under /out/J7/C71/FREERTOS/release or the libtivision_apps.so (according to the configuration of LINK_SHARED_OBJ in vision_apps_build_flags.mak) ?

Or what is even the right way to build & run custom application for the C7x DSP ?

Regards,

Tim

  • Hi Tim,

If the changes are only on vision_apps folder then, only "make vision_apps" is sufficient.
If there are changes in another repo, then I would suggest "make sdk".

Regarding copying the executable files to the SD Card, I would suggest you use "make linux_fs_install_sd" after the vision_apps build is successful.
Please refer step 3 of the below documentation
Vision Apps User Guide: Run Instructions

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

    Regards,
    Nikhil
