Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821, DRA829
Hi Jacinto champs,
We are looking for a system solution which allows to implement the following USB ports on the TI DRA821 processor :
. Two USB Host ports (USB3.0 up to 5Gbps)
. One USB device/UFP port (USB type C USB3.0 or USB2.0)
Having in mind that the USB type C device and the USB host ports should be able to run in parallel in this application and that the DRA821 implements only one USB 3.1 Gen1 dual-role device subsystem (type-C switching / Independently configurable as USB host, USB peripheral, or USB dual-role device), could you propose a system solution to fulfill such requirement?
For instance the DRA821 EVM SOM + Common processor board for Jacinto7 processors USB architecture implements a solution which is very close to the need using the TS3USB221 (HS USB2.0 MUX) and TUSB4041I (4 ports HS USB2.0 HUB) but in that case because of the mux we believe that the USB type C device and the USB host ports could not run in parallel
Would the following setting be an option to solve the problem (see picture here below)?
- The Two USB HOST ports goes on USB 2.0
- The Type C port(Device) runs on USB 3.0
Is it possible when using the Type C port in Device mode for USB 3.0 signalling to force the signals D+/D- to be set in Host mode so it can run concurrently with the USB Host ports?
Thanks !
Best regards,
Guillaume
