USB port vs. USB OTG

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

In the sprugx9, it shows that the USB Subsystem includes the PHY.  However I saw other block diagrams and schematics else where use the TPS65950 to connect to the USB.  IS this because the USB subsystems PHY is a client only and the TPS65950 contains the signaling for the USB-OTG? If true then the C6A8168 support 2 USB clients via its USB subsystem and the USB-OTG via the TPS65950 at the same time?

  • Sy,

I'm not sure where you are seeing the TPS65950.  Perhaps it is for another device that does not have an integrated PHY?  This device has two identical USB modules and they both have a built in PHY. OTG is not supported on this device.  Not all of the USB signals required for OTG support are available out of this device.
