DM8168 VPSS Datasheet

Hi Shantanu,

maybe it helps if you decide to download EZSDK (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/linuxezsdk-davinci.html) and get it installed (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS required, can be installed best within a VirtualBox). Within EZSDK some sources can be found concerning VPSS, and at least one bigger VPSS driver documentation, which maybe helps somehwat... of course, its quite a lot effort just for reading some pages of information... But maybe one of the TI people knows a VPSS document being more directly available. I do not.

maybe I am too late with this (and probably you will need the EZSDK anyway), but I found an online version of the VPSS Video Driver User Guide as well, seems to be the most current working version of the paper which comes with the EZSDK:

Hi ,

          I have a question on the DM8168 video ports. Accoding to datasheet each video input capture port can be operated as one 16/24-bit input channel (with separate Y and Cb/Cr inputs) or two clock independent 8-bit input channels (with interleaved Y/C data input).

Is it possible to given 20bit YUV422 ( 1080p@60 fps) input to video port for video capture ? It looks like it can take only upto 16 bit YUV422 ( 1080p@60 fps) .

Can somebody confirm on this.

Hi,

HDVPSS supports 8 bit resolution for all the modules. So capture can support upto 8 bits per Y/Cb/Cr/R/G/B. 10-bit support is there for any of the HDVPSS components.

           When you say HDVPSS component , does it means scalar block and HDVPSS module means video port interface block to external camera interface.
