SK-AM62: RAM memory test

Hi,

How can I carry out RAM testing? Is there any software or program that allow me to do that?

I am not sure if memtest86 is suitable for RAM testing on AM62x.

Also, I searched online and found that one of the most popular RAM testing algorithms is March algorithm. Any idea how to run this algorithm or is there any references I can refer to?

We typically use linux memtester, which should be included in the latest SDK. To run it, you can use this command

memtester <MEMORY_SIZE> [ITERATIONS]

Ex: >> memtester 1M 10

If I were to use the memtester command in linux, I need to connect the sdk to the virtual machine, right? But running memtester in linux kernel is testing the memory of the linux virtual machine system, isn't it?

Also, is there a way to test the memory using u-boot? How about mtest? What are the steps to do it?

When I enter help in the serial console, there is no mtest command available.

According to this article u-boot/README.memory-test at master · ARM-software/u-boot · GitHub, mtest is not recommended as it will cause a lot of problems. However, they recommend other ways to perform memory test such as the Power-On Self Test (POST). I wonder if this is feasible, and if so, what are the steps to perform this test?

Why do you need to connect to a virtual machine? The linux command can just be input into the UART console at the prompt after booting the board. We don't typically use POST, it would be up to the customer to implement this based on the driver provided in uboot.
